The Radar Station wordt in 2017 geboren uit de assen van Barefoot And The Shoes en Sun Gods. Met hun rijke, vervlochte synth- en gitaarpartijen en
gelaagde drums creëert The Radar StaEon een eigen, uniek geluid: verhalende, eigentijdse indierock à la The War On Drugs en The National, met echo’s uit de eightiespop van Peter Gabriel en Daniel Lanois.
Kenmerkend voor de band is de opvallende, warme en bezwerende stem van zanger Brent Buckler, die ook live uitstekend tot haar recht komt en doet denken aan Eddie Vedder, Tom Smith van Editors of Liam O’Maonlai van Hothouse Flowers. In hun eerste jaren speelde de band al overtuigende sets op o.m. Linkerwoofer, De Effenaar (NL), Ik Zie U Graag Festival in Breda (NL), Kneistival, Dranouter Festival en het OLT Rivierenhof in Antwerpen. En dat is maar een begin, boekingskantoren Rumoer! (B) en Harvest Music (NL) gaan naarstig verder aan de slag met deze jonge belofte.
In 2019 kreeg The Radar Station airplay op Radio 1 en Studio Brussel met meerdere singles en speelde ze een beklijvende live-sessie op NPO Radio 5 (NL). Begin 2020 ging het pas echt hard toen The Radar Station De Nieuwe Lichting won op Studio Brussel. Kort hierna volgde ook airplay op Radio 1, Radio Willy, Classic 21 en Radio NPO 2 (NL).
Op 4 september 2020 brachten ze hun debuutalbum ‘Life Inside A Tornado’ uit waarmee ze uitverkochte shows speelden in de AB en Trix. De singles The Giant en After The Tornado kregen airplay op Radio 1, Stubru, Radio 2, Radio Willy, Urgent.fm en Classic 21. In januari 2021 begon de band met het schrijven van een soundtrack bestaande uit 13 nieuwe songs voor een internationale docu-series over Canada, deze songs zullen in 2022 tevens verschijnen als het tweede album van The Radar Station.

The Radar Station was born in 2017 out of the bands ‘Barefoot And The Shoes’ and ‘Sun Gods’. Rich, interwoven synth and guitar sections combined with layered drum rhythms as the foundation for inspiring lyrics that carry you along to other places, that would be the typical wide and sometimes nostalgic sound of The Radar Station. Music reminiscent of indie rock bands like The War On Drugs and The National with echoes from eighties songs by Peter Gabriel and Daniel Lanois.
The striking, warm and conjuring voice of the lead singer, Brent Buckler, completes the band’s sound as a mix of Eddie Vedder, Tom Smith from Editors or Liam O’Maonlai from Hothouse Flowers. In their first years The Radar Station were able to play sets on ‘Linkerwoofer’, ‘The Effenaar’ (NL), ‘Ik Zie U Graag Festival’ (NL), ‘Kneistival’ and the ‘OLT Rivierenhof’ in Antwerp. On top of this, booking offices Rumoer! (BE) and Harvest Music (NL) chose to work with the talented foursome.
In 2019, The Radar Station got airplay on Radio 1 and Studio Brussels with multiple singles and was invited to perform a live-session on NPO Radio 5 (NL). At the beginning of 2020 things started to go really fast. The Radar Station became the winner of ‘De Nieuwe Lichting’, a music contest organised by one of the main Belgian radio stations ‘Studio Brussels’. A victory followed by airplay on Classic 21, Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio Willy and Netherlands’ largest radio NPO 2.
In September 2020 they released their debut album ‘Life Inside A Tornado’ and played sold out shows at Ancienne Belgique and Trix. The accompanying singles ‘The Giant’ and ‘Ader The Tornado’ received airplay on many Belgian radio stations. In January 2021 they started working on 13 new songs that will become the soundtrack for an international docuseries about Canada, these songs will also be released as their second album somewhere in 2022.
